That rings a bell but I don't think that's the Reprise (I may be wrong).

The guy, great guy [as far as Hendrix goes for me anyway], admits (says) he's not an audiophile (which i'm cool w/as well).
My guess is he got a lot/most of that info from "Steve's Fine Forum".
Yep, nice too "see" a rundown like that on one page! :righton:

    &
i know, "right" (ha, ha), even tho it's 'right' in front of me i'm still not sure (& i don't think he's 100% either) on not only which came 1st butt still is there a true difference (& why that is if so)!
i'm going too have too pull out all the Hendrix ceedees , again, as well as buy some more [thought i was done/no BIG deal/it's Jimi!].

I have seen the desirable Electric Ladyland non RE-1 in Fatboy case and in 2 separate jewel cases. Much more common in 2 separate jewel cases. What matters here is not having the RE-1 mastering with Sonic Solutions NR, the dull sounding CD set.

Thanks for chiming in. i don't think its anywhere near "perfect" & he admits is 'faults' it as well .["That said, I have never owned and compared the many different CD versions."].
"AYE is suing a never intended to be released inferior mix"
Don't you mean "A: BAL" (& "using" instead of "suing"?]?
Yeah, 'paper' & ceedees don't always match [the infamous "Now Made in the USA" artwork w/made in Japan CD's] & yep it's the run (either the paper or the discs last longer than the other one during production).
"If only is was not riddled with errors..... The 1st Gen reprises were made from the original master's - George Gastwirt?? - I'll leave up to other folks to post more."
He doesn't state: "Reprise", he states "MCA('s)". vvv
"MCA 1st remasters (Alan Douglas) - used first generation tape according to Joe Gastwirt, (second says Eddie Kramer) without NoNoise."

    Yeah, "that" guy, he's a "Music Freak" & that's a good thing!
[the site is overwhelming too say the least/didn't notice "his" name]

Cool. Btw, I thought I spotted a non-RE1 AYE on ebay but someone is being very cunning (maybe). The matrix is backwards and there is no mention in the description of RE-1, but if you use a mirror you can clearly see RE-1. Is it possible the seller deliberately reversed the matrix in Photoshop to conceal it? I nearly bought it!

'CON-veniently' forgot the "RE-1" on the discriptions "SRC+06-6261-2".
Nice spy on a not so nice listing ('listing' toward dishonest, ha, ha!!).

Words fail me what they should with him/her. Not suitable for this genteel site. Albeit, I have read here some actually like the RE-1 ...

i'll re-serve final judgement... may be, just maybe they didn't know... although posting the matrix in the listing lOOks like a 'trix'.
Sure there are RE-1 fans, no tape hiss [i MUST saddly admit i don't mind the RE-1 that much/however do indeed prefer the pre RE-1].

Right - but what about the back-to-front Matrix? Have you looked closely? It's unreadable without a mirror. I'd like to know if that is real or a Photoshop, because if it's the latter, it has to be a serious cheat.

I'm curious enough now almost to want both, btw.

The seller got back to me. (S)he has now added 'RE-1' to the matrix!

What I mean by riddled with errors is there are many wrong statements and names given.to be it's obvious all the guy did was copy and paste infro he/sge found on other websites and never did any fact checking or QC....

The site indicates the first Reprise CD's were made from low gen tapes - Wrong they were made from the masters it was the 1st Polydor's that were not.

The site indicates someone name "George Gastwirt" as doing the mastering of the 1st MCA's - Wrong it was Joe.

There are more errors for anyone else who wants to spend a minute of two and find them.
