    I don’t know how you can have a poll of “funkiest” 60s pop/rock songs without the artists having a Soul influence. It’s a contradiction in terms, IMO.

    Another of my faves is “Summer in the City” by The Lovin’ Spoonful. (Don’t worry: They’re all white!)

    When she was recording this song , Nancy wasn't nailing the vocal at all until the producer told her to sing it like a sixteen year old who ****s truck drivers. And so she did.
    She looks great and sexy in this video.

    It did make the pop charts, so no reason it can't be both blue and square, and fuzzy as well - musical genres don't have to be mutually exclusive, especially when the;re defined by different characteristics.
