    Just to clarify, Syd's guitar is an Esquire, there is no neck pickup.

    Made him a bit unique, like Luther Perkins, Jeff Beck's Esquire in the Yardbirds and some other Esquire players.

    Here's a rare classic that heavily contributed to Grand Funk Railraod's powerhouse rock. Mark Farner's green Messenger guitar with taped fret holes and the guitar design's unique onboard distortion toggle he used on stage and in the studio from '69-'71. After switching to flashier guitars by other well known guitar makers Mark's sound changed, never to have the biting edge of his old Messenger.
