My favorite are the Steve Hoffman mastered CCR SACDs, they sound phenomenal.

The Coltrane one is the Analouge Productions Hybrid Mono SACD
    Layla is the MOFI version
Marvin Gaye is the A.T. Music Stereo Hybrid
And of course thank you for shattering my thoughts that it was a 5.1 mix, Billy Joel's greatest hits MOFI SACD

Definitely the Stones SACD's. Breathes wonderful new life into those records...especially stuff you may have written off like Dirty Work and Emotional Rescue.

I also enjoy Breakfast in America.

I have it hooked up to the HDMI. I made sure it was playing the SACD layer as the player that I have gives you a choice of modes.

OK, HDMI does get converted and processed so that you are down rezing all of your SACDs. There are ways to play the high rez layer without down-converting the audio stream.

I thought that reviews on these discs were just so-so because they were converted from 24/96 PCM to DSD.

Dunno about the so-so reviews, but hey, I judge them by my ears.

The limiting you hear on the redbook CD's is gone and they compare very favorably with their best vinyl counterparts.

How else would I play it though? The only other option I have is 2 channel analog

A lot of the Audio Fidelity quad SACDs are great and the more the better.
I think Roxys Avalon 5.1 is up there as quintessential. The Scorpions Moment Of Glory is a glorious listen. And Kraftwerk's Minimum Maximum ditto.

Only a few of the Dylan titles are. I own the following because they are in 5.1:

    Bringing It All Back Home
    Blood On The Tracks
    Slow Train Coming
    Love and Theft

I believe "Another Side..." is as well but have never been able to find it.

The bright EQ'ing I notice some but not as much on the Winter, even compared to my LP record. I actually have only heard the Analog Productions Coltrane and have some of The MoFi Dylan as I noticed MoFi usually improves some line of the mastering process via their A-D converters or playback tape heads for albums already released in SACD. The MoFi Kinks- Everybody's In Showbiz is one that comes to mind. Oh and MoFi's packaging is better as well.

That is definitely the best option. HDMI does have the capability to transfer a high resolution PCM signal but the limitation is not just the cable itself but also the DAC in your receiver. Depending on the equipment, the option that you use can come very close to native DSD, but to the "naked ear" you can still hear the difference.

I was not aware the SRV joined the Texas Hurricanes. I bet they did some albums almost as good as Double Trouble.

What is the best option? HDMI or Analog? And if you mean 2 channel analog how can you listen to a 5.1 channel mix thru that setting?
