    A couple of items

    All,

I Gotcha' by Joe Tex and Hold Me Tight by Johnny Nash are available on CD. I am presently at work so I cannot provide specific CD titles, but both are readily available. I know I have both titles on compilations.

A soundtrack for the sake of Fleetwood Mac completeness:

A Fine Mess (featuring Christine McVie's take on "Can't Help Falling In Love" with the Mac members, other than Stevie, guesting)

Grant Life is a rock, but the radio rolled me!

I found this on vinyl not too long ago and picked it up for a $1. It took a while for me to get used to some of the tracks. Do you think it would have done better commercially if it had not been associated with a movie that bombed?

    Re: A couple of items

With Joe Tex, you know I was referring to the entire album, "I Gotcha"
There isn't a single clunker on the whole LP. I know there is a label that plans to release all of his albums on CD but I have not been able to find them anywhere.

I have not heard any Johnny Nash albums.

I've been holding off on this post due to the fact that most likely a lot on the forum won't know who they are being Canadian and all.

    Prism: S/T

    "Chilliwack": S/T double album

    " ": Riding High

    " ": All Over You

    " ": Rockerbox

    " ": Dreams, Dreams, Dreams

    " ": Breakdown In Paradise

    " ": Wanna Be A Star

    " ": OpusX

Actually Chilliwack has probably been heard by most, if you're born prior to 1970, as they tore up the airwaves in the 70's and early 80's. You probably just don't remember a) They had massive am and fm exposure, and b) They had some pretty huge hits.

    Grant,

Sorry, I guess I think too much in "singles" being the Top 40 fanatic that I am...

    TO SAL ORLANDO,

I have a copy on CD of a Japanese import of the Miles In Tokyo album. I did a quick check of Amazon.com and they do list it as having a mini-LP style sleeve. My version (I believe from the early 90's) is a standard jewel box. I remember the sound quality as slightly better that the original vinyl (although my vinyl copy was pretty well played at that point). I was satisfied, however.

In any event, if you need it, the stock number for my copy of the CD is CBS/Sony CSCS 5146, if that helps.

No problem! I'm also a big singles fan, having grown up on primarily 45s and top 40 radio.

But I take it that most people here are rooted in albums.

    Dave,

Chilliwack's self-titled 2 LP set, with "Lonesome Mary", was just issued on CD in France by the Red Fox label. Also, "Wanna Be A Star" has been out on CD for some time now; check Spindle Records in Canada; I've seen it listed there and it also shows up on eBay a lot. I agree, Chilliwack put out some great LPs, and they should definitely be released on CD.

    teaser5,
I'm a big fan of Buddy Miles "Them Changes" LP also. If you don't have it already, pick up his CD compilation on Mercury before it goes OOP. Great live version of Down By The River.

    HeavyDistortion,

Thanks man, I didn't know those 2 were available. I know that there were 2 albums that made it to cd. Greatest Hits (or Segue as it's sometimes known) and Lights From The Valley. Try and find them though as they were discontinued back in around 90.

As long as we're voting, I'll add my mine for Stand in the Fire, In My Own Dream, and The Name of this Band is Talking Heads. I still check the bins looking for those three. But I thought I was the only one in this crowd who believes that CD's are inherently superior to LP's.

Thanks Hoboken Lad. It's damn pricey though!

Don't understand why they don't release this one in the US...I mean, Sam Rivers plays on it. What more could you want ;)

It comes down to which is mastered better, as Steve has said. Format is secondary.

But let's not open up THAT can of worms again!:(

    Dave,

Thanks for your info about "Lights From The Valley" being available on CD; I'll have to try and track that CD down. It's always been one of my favorite Chilliwack LPs, and I love their version of The Sutherland Brothers' "Arms Of Mary", and also the mixture of acoustic and electric guitars that run throughout that particular LP.

I'm just burned that A&M has not put any of the 5 songs out on a greatest hits or anthology package (not even on import). The song are from the Night and Day / Body and Soul period and the Score side of the album is like Will to Power.

And yes, being connected to one of the worst edited movies of the 80's hurt the album. I got a promo copy before the movie came out. After that KROQ stop playing "Laundromat Monday", after that the album just died.

So Grant, enjoy the music. ;)
