"Rising Damp" ! A great show! My local PBS showed it at zero dark thirty but with the job at the time, I was up and needed a laugh.

Man! AbFab! I hadn't seen it and moved into an area with much better TV. I just happened to check out "Comedy Central" and it was Python, The Office and AbFab! The first show set the hook and reeled me in instantly. And "The Lenny Henry Show" I believe rounded out the British night on CC. Or at least it was the last show before my nightly appointment with Dr. Morpheus. Or Lenny might have been A&E when it was a decent channel. I forgot to remember

Yes. Precious few Americans are aware of HANCOCK'S HALF HOUR, STEPTOE AND SON, or TILL DEATH US DO PART, my favorites(and I'm a "Yank"), and certainly no one here will know what "I hate you Butler" was! I also thought Julian Clary would become known here, but I don't know why!

Seeing The Young Ones mentioned reminds me of the first time I saw it, on MTV in 1983-84, I think? I was 12 or 13, and it was the episode where Viv gets his head cut off when he sticks it out the train window, and he then yells at his body to come get him. I was laughing maniacally at it, and my dad was a mix of enraged and offended at it. He yelled at me to “turn that -blank- off!” He got rid of the cable not too long after.

Q.I. - not really a sitcom but features sitcom actors in a game show setting hosted by Stephen Fry, usually very amusing

Ab Fab has got me chasing Joanna Lumley. As well as the complete series set, she and Jennifer Saunders made an Ab Fab movie version. Someone has also recommended a movie called Parting Shots in which Joanna plays a part.

Her role is small as a barmaid who sells a gun to Chris Rea. I think she has two scenes.

I am the one and only human being on the planet who likes that movie (to some extent). The film is full of very bizarre artistic decisions, but then it was made by the madman responsible for the cartoon gonzo brilliance of Death Wish 3 (1985).

I saw it on VHS and I doubt it ever had a DVD release.

Thanks. She doesn't seem to have had a large film career. I once had a DVD of Cold Comfort Farm, also a relatively small role. I have ordered a DVD of Parting Shots based on an acquaintance's recommendation. We'll see.

I thought I could slip it by! I seldom watch the reruns with her. I'm all about the "Peel"! The show started here in the states when I was about 10. Hubba hubba!
