Steve, I hope you don't mind, but I thought we needed a thread for television too. :)

Now then, my selection for the Hall of Shame: "Superfriends"

The Smurfs. No. How bout, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. No. How about anything and everything after the mid 70's excluding the first 5 seasons of the Simpsons.

I think maybe we should differentiate between cartoon characters and animated television programs.

Rollie Pollie Ollie (not sure how it's spelled). One of the worst (computer) animated cartoons in history, IMHO, of course :)

Dislike Superfriends? Sir, I challenge you to a duel!

Seriously, though, I never liked Road Runner and Tweety Bird. I think it's because of the lack of dialogue.

This might take awhile: Terrytoons stuff ala Sad Cat, James Hound, Sidney the Sick Elephant, Hector Heathcoate, Hashimoto, Astro Nut (these might have also gotten a theatrical release, but mainly showed up on the boob tube) - talk about hack jobs.... Popeye - howzabout those meag-****epile Gene Deitch monstrosities??? Beetle Bailey, Snuffy Smith - empty those stinkers into a diaper pail.... Better stop - gotta leave some other dungheap downers for others to add!

A whole bunch of the newest generation of TV 'toons, that are "edgy" rather than "funny." I've tried watching the Powerpuff Girls, but it just ain't my bag. And what the hell was Earthworm Jim all about???

I miss "Daria" since it went off MTV. Most episodes were extremely well written.

I'm a huge SpongeBob fan. I own all of the DVDs too.

Anyone remember the animated version of "The Dukes of Hazzard"? :hurlleft: A low point in animation (and perhaps societal evolution), right behind Scrappy Doo.

Scrappy Doo, of course. While I LOVE the Flintstones, I hated the Barney charater that didn't have Mel Blanc's voice. Didn't like the animated Star Trek or Gilligan's Island either.

LOVE Ann Margarock, Stoney Curtis, and Cary Granite.

I never understood what's the appeal of Scoobidoo.

Have you seen Samurai Jack? Saw one the other day with our son and liked it a lot.

Gawd, what a letdown that was! Like the whole cast had been given Quaaludes.

Scrappy Doo, hands down, has to be the most annoying piece of knock-off animated tripe to ever land on television.

In a totally different arena, but almost as annoying, is Dragonball Z. I like anime, sure, but WTF is this? Beyond bad...

Anything produced by Hanna-Barbera will send me jumping for the remote. Too cookie-cutter production line (with laugh track) to be watchable IMHO.
