  1. You beat me to it. I was going to sing the praises of this new CD from Real Gone. Fantastic sound quality, the entire mastering is captivating. A perfectly sequenced album with a nice mix of instrumentals and singer-driven songs.

Almost an essential purchase this Christmas season.

It's my mother's favorite and one of the few Christmas albums that I love too.

    No Christmas for me, thanks.
My favorite song about this awful time of the year is by Fear.

I've been by myself a few years and haven't put up decorations. It is not a "bah humbug' kind of thing just more a kind of lazy thing but I do enjoy listening to A Charlie Brown Christmas

Any version of the Nutcracker with Antal Dorati conducting, this being my favorite for years:

The one on Phillips with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra is also excellent.

This household doesn't do xmas music in the way many here describe, xmas music is just something that's on the radio and tv in the lead up. I did acquire the recent Eric Clapton xmas album earlier this year but to play it I'll have to find it. Opening presents, we do that as and when we get up for breakfast, never together. The tree goes up anytime between the 20th and 24th.

Can't stand Christmas music personally, I get more than enough of it in the shops in the run-up to Christmas without wanting to subject myself to any more of it at home - but we always put on Wild Winter by Smoke Fairies at the start of Christmas dinner, a Christmas album that's not at all festive and all the better for it and then follow up with Mary Epworth's Snow Queen EP.

I think Christmas 2019 will be more-or-less the 50th year that I will have listened to this one. My parents played it several times every year when I was a kid, and I still play it several times every year now. And it will be especially poignant this year because, as of last Friday, I no longer have a living parent.

There’s the traditional Christmas music and then there’s stuff out there like Stax Christmas or compilations from Motown and ATCO which is more my style. Nothing like listening to Back Door Santa by Clarence Carter while relaxing by the fire.

They call me Back Door Santa
I make my runs about the break of day

Actually there are two (sort of). There is the Spirit of Christmas (shown above) and there is also an instrumental version called Peace on Earth.
