    The first three are easy:

    1) Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! (Russ Meyer, 1966)
    2) Ran (Akira Kurosawa, 1985)
    3) Monty Python's Life of Brian (Terry Jones, 1979)

The next two might change if I thought about it enough.

    4) Apocalypse Now (Francis Ford Coppola, 1979)
    5) Rounders (John Dahl, 1998)

Great selection! I am also a fan of "The Saragossa Manuscript". I read the novel by Jan Potocki and although the movie captures the spirit of the original novel it omits tons of stories within stories within stories. More than 1000 pages are just too much to tell in one movie. I also have the Polish LP, which is kind of rare.

A top five is really hard and there are so many films that "should" be in it, like Kurosawa and all the greats.

For me there is one film that comes to mind when thinking about my favorite films and that is "The Third Man". I've seen it probably a dozen times and it still is one of the best movies made, on so many levels. The cinematography is outstanding, the music is wonderful, post-war Vienna a great setting and of course the story and the actors are just great. I'll never forget the scenes with Orson Welles and the cat or the little boy telling his father "Papa, der war's, der war der Mörder. Mörder! Mörder!" pointing to Holly Martins who takes his time understanding what is going on. Of course, Alida Valli who just loves Harry no matter what. One of the best movies there is.

The Time of Their Lives - Abbott & Costello, Love them all, but this one a bit more.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail - Watch this every year while wrapping Christmas presents
The Departed - A Great Cast,.. Saw this the first day it was in the theaters
The Right Stuff - Grew up during Apollo. (Would have picked HBO's From the Earth to the Moon, but this is a series, not a Movie)
Animal House - 1st "R" rated movie @ 14, and to quote Flounder....
