You know, one of those wonderfully priced "Original Album Series" or the like.

    Eric Clapton
    The Band

I like those sets, especially for older (50s) acts. It's an easy way for the labels to keep the music in print and cheap. And artists that have enough good material that comps don't cover.

    • Herman's Hermits
    • The Shadows
    • The Animals
    • The Hollies
    • The Monkees (i think they have one?)
    • Dave Clarke Five
a lot of those 2nd tier bands are perfect for the releases i think

Some of those have some strange selections.
I know there is a Skynyrd one that has some classic albums with 1 or 2 more current ones.
Some also have compilations thrown in.
    Weird.

Apparently there's a 2 disc Clapton set out there that encompasses 461, Slowhand & There's One but it's OOP & pricey.

I have this Hollies set with five of their early albums that I got for a nice price.

It would be nice to get an Animals set with good sound at a nice price. ABKCO put out a set but you had to buy a $60 t-shirt with it.

I have a couple of comments concerning a couple of the groups

Herman's Hermits - I have a "Complete" Herman's Hermits album set that EMI put out. Since some of the albums were 2-fers in the pack you didn't get original artwork
The Hollies - Same as Herman's Hermits, but a more recent set, actually 3 sets

For me, I'd like to see these:

Devo (but I hear label-artist issues make this unlikely)
    Olivia Newton-John
Dave Clark Five (Again, label issues)
Yardbirds (One that focused on the later albums after Rodger The Engineer/Over, Under, Upside Down)
Fleetwood Mac's middle period (Again, I understand contract issues make it unlikely)
The Animals (Contract matters again, but it is easy to get most of their albums from BGO and a few other Oldies labels). Yeah, I didn't want to buy that $60 shirt, it probably would have been too small!

When I get ready to buy my latest order I check to see if there are any "Original Album" sets. Once in a while I'm rewarded. I just got a Blood, Sweat & Tears set that covers the first five albums. Nothin' fancy, but it has some of the bonus tracks and the sound is almost always fair to excellent.

I want one with Chris Bellman cutting the lacquers. His 2013 London Calling beats out the EU version. MOV cut had the box set made, if I recall. So it was cut in-house to DMM. I want a better release.

I was going to post America (the band), but then I looked on Amazon and saw that there is, in fact, an Original Album Series package of their first five albums ... but it was released only in the EU, apparently. Still, it was available on Amazon US as an import for $22, so I ordered it. I only know the classic “Greatest Hits” album, but love every second of that compilation and I’m looking forward to finally digging deeper into the band’s catalogue.

  21. Yep. The Monkees have one. so do The Shadows https://www.amazon.com/Orignal-Albu...=music&sprefix=The+shadows,popular,205&sr=1-1

abkco own Herman’s Hermits and The Animals so it’s unlikely (beyond the boxed set with the t-shirt) that we will get what you’re asking for. There is this later Animals compilation.

Good luck with The Dave Clark Five won’t be released like that until Dave Clark dies maybe.

Post Morrison Them would fit the bill neatly; 5 albums, 2 from ‘68, then one apiece from 1970, 1971 and 1979.

The Velvet Undergroud would be a hoot. Let’s get ‘Squeeze’ canonised!

I would like a nice little dinky box with the first five King Crimson albums and another with the first four ELP albums plus Pictures. With the best stereo mixes. With bonus cuts.
