R&B and Hip Hop for sure. We can name other artists in rock or whatever but both of those genres are somewhat ignored, even derided, in these parts.

“Shortest shrift” doesn’t mean least talked about, like a lot of the artists listed, it means most dismissed.

OP said neglected in his first post. That’s what he meant so that’s where the posts have gone.

Everybody thinks its cool to say The Eagles suck because of Big Lebowski and because they overcharge for concert tickets and because Henley & Frey were assholes...but they made some fine music in their day.

    Based on the OP's premise:

    Janis Ian
    Rhinoceros
    Kris Kristofferson
    etc.

    Based on hate/derision:

    Yoko Ono
    Coldplay
    Dave Grohl/Foo Fighers
    etc.

  12. Until last year, I was the only one who ever mentioned Intersystems on this forum. They seem to get short shrift in the larger music culture too, not even making the NWW List for which they'd be a natural inclusion. Which is nuts, they were a fascinating act!

Joe South. An amazing performer in his own right and an outstanding songwriter. (“Hush,” “I Knew You When,” “I Never Promised You A Rose Garden,” “Birds Of A Feather”) His production and writing work for Billy Joe Royal and The Tams stands the test of time. He’s rarely mentioned in this Forum.

She kind of falls in a category with Joni that for some reason doesn't get talked about too much. Both of them get respect overall, but they're just not thought of too much in the traditional classic rock realms...
