Barry Manilow does have some fans no here but he doesn’t seem to be taken seriously by many.

Ditto, though to a lesser extent, John Denver.

I think John Denver does okay here. There’s definitely a small but loyal fan base here. I’ve read some very positive threads. I learned about the RCA BOX (similar to Nilsson’s box set) from one of the threads.

I think that's more of an R&B genre issue that exists here. Teena Marie has short threads here too but the genre doesn't draw a lot of invective either. More like neglect and disinterest.

Given how big he was at one point in the '80s, yes, he is under-represented here.

Danish artist Tim Christensen is a very talented musician and songwriter who has had only one thread here on the forum, and it is currently locked for inactivity.

Tim Christensen: Dare I say Neil Finn meets John Lennon?

If you like melodies that remind you of a certain Liverpool group, you might want to check his solo work.

Sadly IMHO their last incarnation with Martin Ace as the sole remaining long-term member was not wonderful. Barely a pale imitation. Man died with Mickey Jones and Deke Leonard.

Everybody gets just one shrift. It’s the length that’s the issue here. It’s like a competition.

As has already been pointed out, people are getting the definition of 'short shrift' wrong, it doesn't mean a lack of attention or appreciation it means being easily and routinely dismissed or disregarded.

It's not how much shrift you have, it's what you do with it.

They don't mean the same thing. There's no value judgment involved in 'short shrift'.

The two statements aren't contradictory, saying something is being given short shrift is just an observation, like saying something is disliked, there's no judgment being made on whether the thing deserves to be liked or disliked - unlike saying something is underrated.
