Again, if people are into autographs, that's great! Lots of winning enthusiasm on display in this thread, and that's always a good thing. In my case, I did it more as an interesting entryway into talking with a couple of my musical heroes. I wasn't sure if after all that time they even remembered the unusual configuration of the U.S. release of S.F. Sorrow, and thought they might get a kick out of seeing one.

I used to have a STUNNING set of signatures from The Who on a copy of Quadrophenia - all really clear in black marker but sold on as part of our move to South Africa 10 years ago. I also had a number of personalised letters and note from Pete and John and a Keith signature mounted under a picture of him and Dougal at an airport in 1973 - again sold to fund the move.

Johnny Marr, Ash, Chromatics were all signed at shows and amazing to talk to. The coolest of all was Ian Brown. My wife had surprised me with tickets to a Manchester City match. The time we would be in Manchester coincided with the release date of Ian’s latest album. So I preordered it and four hours after our plane landed joined the queue for the record signing at Piccadilly Records. Talking to the people in line was a blast and people kept asking if I’d flown in just for the signing. Ian himself was just as cool as I thought he’d be.

Not sure if this counts… but: I had Tom Evan's (Badfinger) autograph on a napkin for a couple hours when I met him at a bar in late 1982. We had a great conversation, a lot of laughs & several drinks. Such a nice guy. My memory is a little fuzzy on details., other than I think he (or his manager?) was based in Minnesota at the time. He said the band had recently completed 4-5 demos (maybe recorded in Minnesota?), and he expected to release a new Badfinger single was within a 3-4 months. Joey Molland was not in the band, but Gibbons was there. I don’t think the single ever happened. He thought it was really funny that my autographed napkin got all smudged-up when one of us mistakenly used it as a drink coaster. @(#(*&#!
