What great band or musician did you discover purely by happenstance?

Heather Eatman. I believe she is the great "undiscovered" talent that could make it big if everything fell in place.

I was turned on to her merely by accident, when I attented a concert by Graham Parker solo at The Tabernacle in Mt. Tabor, NJ. The show was a triple bill consisting of Willie Nile, Vance Gilbert and Graham Parker. Well Willie Nile couldn't make it due to a family emergency, so the venue got Heather Eatman to fill in at the last minute.

She came on, just her and an electric guitar and proceeded to mesmerize me with her songs, playing and personality. I have been in love with her music ever since.

Unfortunately I believe the music gig for her is a part-time venture, even though she has three critically acclaimed albums released, and she doesn't seem to tour or play that many shows.
