Its actually normal for musicians to throw in the towel later on in their lives. Being a touring musician is "not" conducive to maintaining a family. Once the reality regarding subjects like retirement start coming up, people start thinking about their future and how what they are doing is fitting into that plan. Its a young persons game.

He has completely retired from the music world. According to several people in a recent tv documentary he was never happy with the rockstar life, got seriously in trouble and somehow wanted to leave it all behind.

David Schelzel of "The Ocean Blue" became an IP lawyer. They recently came out with a really good album so the retirement never was 100%.

 

Before that, though? Perhaps he has a reasonable income stream from "Life's What You Make It" and "It's My Life"; while they weren't big hits they do still turn up on various radio formats, and have been in some movies I think.

 

Tanya Donelly (Throwing Muses, Breeders, Belly) became a doula. Looks like she is back playing now...
