I second Sckott's comment on the Classic CSN LP issue. It's astounding ... probably the best of the rock Classic reissues (apart from, perhaps, their mono Hendrix Axis: Bold as Love).

    Get it while ya can!

Do you like Who We Be? But more important, do you know where that guitar riff sample is from? It sounds like some classic r&b so I thought you might know. It's killing me. "The friends, the foes, the Benz, the hoes."

Just found a copy of Al Green DCC on the net and it should here in a few days!

    Masters Apprentices - Nickelodeon
Live album recorded in '70,very 'eavy..

    Jim Ford - Harlan County
    1969 album by rather mysterious guy,never made another,it's kinda'country soul-swamp.

    Joe South - Best Of(Rhino)
One of the crimes against good taste is the continued unavailability of Joe South's Capitol albums on CD,this will have to do.

Bobby Short - Live At The Cafe Carlyle
This is the MFSL gold version,it's a great example of the cabaret singer's art, impeccable repertoire and performance.

    Human Instinct - Stoned Guitar
1970 album by legendary New Zealand prog/heavy rock band, features Billy TK,New Zealand's first Hendrix style guitar hero.

    Sara & Maybelle Carter
A 2fer on Bear Family featuring the 1966 reunion album and Maybelle's 1965 solo effort. The voices may have worn but grown in poignancy,a wonderful outing from the matriachs of country music.

Each disc has 2 albums, great power pop.

Actually, I treat them both in high regard. Like I said, although all of the albums sound fabulous on Classic Recs (Zep) but for some crazy reason, Led Zeppelin III is really excellent, almost kills he general sound of the Debut, which has never let me down in any issue of vinyl, except the last German one, which was poo.

Yeah, Michael Fremer put the Classic Recs CSN on a huge "Awesome" review in Stereophile. I love the record anyways, but he WAS on the money. Clas/Recs really DID nail that one with the magic fairy dust. Sounds a tiny bit better to the remastered CD until you listen to the Clas/Recs for a week. Wow. Yes, it sinks in! Great stereo seperation! This is for a recording that has somewhat of a plesant "early compressed" tuby sound with a huge bass presence in "Long Time Gone" much warmer than ever.

Well I found a used MFSL Eric Clapton "Slowhand" at a pawnshop a few days ago for $2.99 in very good condition. So it's what I've played most recently.

I like to mix the new with the old:

    1) No Doubt - Rock Steady (very satisfying 80s-90s raggae type sound 4 out of 5 stars)

    2) Mick Jagger - Goddess in the Doorway (Not too shabby! 4 out 5 stars)

    3) Lou Reed - Transformer RCA 24K Gold (Very satisfying - 5 stars for the sonics)

    4) Tons o' DCC stuff
    - Night Moves (all)
    - Rock the First (all)
    - Sammy Davis' GH vol 1 and 2
    - Peggy Lee - Bewitching Lee
    (all awesome)

Keep bringing on those DCC titles.

Right on! Tweedy is awesome. I saw him do an acoustic solo show in Somerville, MA not long ago, and it was spellbinding.

Have you seen on Wilcoweb.com that Wilco's new album Yankee Hotel Foxtrot will FINALLY see release in April? I'm so relieved, I've been waiting to hear it for ages ... Glad they finally settled on a new record label.

Grant Life is a rock, but the radio rolled me!

I'll start paying attention to it now. I'll let you know if I recognize anything. That happens to be my least favorite song on the CD for now.

All of the DCC gold McCartney CD's have been going into heavy rotation on my CD player the last week or so. Glad I got'em all when I did.
Made CD-R copies for car listening. Ain't gonna risk getting the originals stolen.

Well that happened to me... I´m still missing the second disk of the MoFi Jethro Tull "Living in the past".
Some idiot threw in a window of my car, stole a bag with my CDs, then threw them into nearby gardens one by one, while he was fleeing from the site of the shameful deed. He was probably expecting a purse or camera or something in that bag. Or maybe he didn´t like my music. He left my CD tuner in the car, too.
A few of the CDs were returned to me by friendly garden owners; my MoFi "Slowhand" was among them (soaked wet), and a few DCC Sonny Rollins titles. But not the MoFi JT "Living in the past". The current price for this really hurts. Ouch.
Chet Baker´s last concert, and Harry Belafonte´s Carnegie Hall concert were lost, too, but these are easier to replace...
    :(

Led Zep on Classic Records: 1 thru 4 (it's all I have....so far! Man, are they hard to find in stores in Canada!)

McCartney: Red Rose Speedway (a recent DCC purchase)

Uriah Heep (M Birthday and Demons), Klaatu's first two albums - a 2 fer, all recent purchases that are remasters from England. Wish Steve could have done them!

Edward Bear S/T. Met (and bought the CD from) Roger Ellis who was playing his guitar in the subway for change. He wrote "Best Friend" - a hit in these parts. Apparently he does not get a cent for any royalties. Anyone remember this group?

Wasn't "Last Song" their big international hit? Or was it "Fly Across the Sea"?

Larry Evoy was the big hit tune maker in the band. They went thru a few lineup changes, too. And they knew the guys in Klaatu!

Wish all their CDs would be released or re-released, don't you? :) As far as I know, there was only a GH CD done before this one.

Yup Last Song was their huge one. I've got The Edward Bear Collection on Crapitol. Also remember You And Me And Mexico? That one was really popular as well. It sad that this band has never recieved the recording expertese it so desperately deserves and needs.

Weird, I just read Joe Jackson's sort-of autobiography (in some ways it's more him writing about love of music). I remember Edward Bear being one of his earlier bands. Is this the same band?

    Zooman,
Edward Bear consisted of Paul Weldon-keyboards, Danny Marks- guitar and then later Roger Ellis and then even later by Bob Kendall, and Larry Evoy- drums and vocals and was a Canadian band who finally saw the light of the US. market in 1972 with their International hit Last Song at #3 on the US. charts.
