What HD-DVD, Blu-ray disc, or D-Theater tape have you gotten lately? (Part 5)

I'm anxious to get Edward Norton in The People Vs. Larry Flynt that's a'coming.

 

Digging into "Secretariat" tonight for a review this weekend. That's after watching the two hour premiere of "Human Target" and "The Mentalist" (boy am I going to be in trouble when "Fringe" and "Supernatural" are new again--I'll be up to my eyeballs with shows to watch and not enough time to watch other stuff).

I bet that looks amazing!

I got a BD player for Christmas and just started building my Blu-Ray collection. My wife got my player at Wal-Mart but the Blu-Ray selection had been depleted from the holidays, so she dug through the bins and picked up LABYRINTH cheap.Not one I would have picked but it looks and sounds great and has the genius of Jim Henson and his talented team.

Since then I've gotten THE WILD BUNCH, 2001, FARGO, LIVING DEAD AT THE MANCHESTER MORGUE, BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE, THE DARK KNIGHT, 300, SLEEPY HOLLOW, and waiting on the restored SPIRITS OF THE DEAD from Amazon.uk.

I'd love to rebuild my favorite Criterion titles and will definitely pick up the new NIGHT OF THE HUNTER BD.

Caddyshack
Gone With the Wind

 

That's should be great. Woody Harrelson was great in this one too. I hate to admit it but Courtney Love did a good job as Larry Flints stoned out babe.
It's to bad that this movie was protested by Gloria Steinem and her friends, it kind of killed a very well made movie.

 

She did come off well but I'm not so sure she was acting... as Ringo once sang, "all I gotta do is act naturally".

 

The Complete Metropolis

 

I bought the expanded Avatar.

 

Great movie. I love this and Hero, and House of the Flying Daggers. The only complaint I have with The Curse of the Golden Flowers is. . . no Ziyi!

 

Needed my grindhouse horror fix.

 

The Night of the Hunter

What a movie! One of the greatest American films, IMO. I've bought the Blu-ray, but haven't watched it yet. How did it look?

Last night I watched "Ghostbusters" on Blu-ray. Picture quality was decent, nothing spectacular. I still love the movie. But boy did a lot of the style/design stuff look aged, very 80's. Though that's not all bad, if you're a nostalgia junkie as I am.

 

Five Easy Pieces

Actors: Jack Nicholson, Karen Black, Billy Green Bush, Susan Anspach, Fannie Flagg, Sally Struthers, Ralph Waite, Toni Basil

A worthy upgrade.

 

Much better than expected and an added plus for the extras, which I'm working my way through.

Figured it was time to get the trilogy as I didn't even have them on DVD.

 

Four Weddings and a Funeral. Target has it as an exclusive for 9.99.

 

Out of all the movies consisting of a man in a box for 90 minutes, this is THE best! But in all seriousness, Ryan Reynolds acted the hell out of this thing. It was intense, suspenseful and very well-made.

 

Justified, Dexter Season 4 and on standard DVD Alias Smith and Jones Seasons 2 & 3

 

Water Life "The Big Blue".

Great to look at!
