I agree completely. The guy is so talented, and they are perfectly suited for each other.

 

Absolutely agree! He is a perfect fit for the stuff Fiona writes. I'd love to hear what Brion could do with say Paul McCartney, or some other "old timers" too.

 

I've said that about Brion & McCartney many times. He'd be able to give Paul just the right sort of "modern psychedelic" touch.

But I'm thrilled to hear Fiona finally has something new about to come out - it's been a long wait.

 

Not me. I want a new Jon Brion solo project similar to "Meaningless."

For her new album, Fiona Apple is harkening back to her When the Pawn... days (if you recall, the full title of that album is an eight-line poem). The title of the new record is a mouthful:
The Idler Wheel is wiser than the Driver of the Screw, and Whipping Cords will serve you more than Ropes will ever do.

Epic is aiming to release the record in late June. In the meanwhile, she'll play a series of U.S. live dates, including a stop at Pitchfork's Official SXSW Showcase on March 15.

Twelve minutes. Either it was a disaster, or Fiona thought it was. NPR don't often hack these concerts about. What's there isn't exactly compelling. Her band are really trying though.

 

I recently picked up a used cd of "Extraordinary Machine" at FYE on the cheap and so I am having my very first listen to this album......damn, I missed out on this in 2005. Some super low powerful bass tones to test out your system, too.

 

Yes, that's an amazing album!

 

Wound up catching an episode of a new Showtime series (The Affair) the other day ad was pleasantly surprised to hear a new Fiona original as the show's theme. Thought one or two of you might enjoy this brief, atmospheric piece:

 

The last time I heard any news about Fiona Apple was in 2012 when she was arrested for marijuana possession.

 

Probably true, but when one is looking for a good "all-purpose" thread to post a 60-second piece of new-ish music, this struck me as the best existing thread.

Hopefully a few of her fans might discover this new piece of music and be as intrigued as I was with it!
