Somehow managing to maintain a stable family life and raising good kids while being one of the world's biggest rock stars. Hardly anyone else seems to have accomplished it, at least not until they've become middle aged.

Well, he died in 1966. To continue recording posthumously is quite an achievement.

Maybe I’m Amazed and his gift for timeless melodies that bring so much joy in a ever increasing joyless world.

I don't know how to measure the effect of his efforts to improve the lives of animals, but it's worth noting as another of his achievements.

Absolutely!, hands down. For me personally that would be his second greatest achievement, his fervent and effective Animal Rights Activism.

Easy, 3, just an amazing perfect album. He has had a string of horrible pop, like Egypt Station before Paul III. Just leaves his nostalgic stuck fans in the dust and makes an amazing rockin weird album. His best solo record by far.

Plain and simple, for nearly 60 years the man has been the master of writing perfect pop songs. Plus, he followed up his Beatles gig pretty well!

Not his best album but I'll tell ya I'm happy Paulie is still making great albums like McCartney III in 2020, 2021.

No, wait, that's his worst achievement.

I'll have to go with 'keeping it up'. He consistently works, hard, and still produces new sounds (Deep Deep Feeling, etc) and stretches himself in new directions. It's almost as if he actually loves doing what he does! :agree:

For me it is that he is still alive and contributing music and personality to the industry scene. Also that he has been able to set a positive example of an aging musician who continues to be relevant.

    - Great feeling for good and catchy melodies
    - Recording and releasing what he likes and believes in himself (for the most part)
    - Remaining quite normal in spite of huge success

I would say being the only artist in the entire history of popular music to be nominated as the greatest of all time not once but twice! With the Beatles and with Wings, and solo!

okay I'm gonna say it anyway: Spies Like Us.

Music is subjective, there's no way to prove that his most treasured songs from The Beatles discography are greater than the funny song he did for an 80's comedy. Paul, Dan, and Chevy walked in the crosswalk Abbey Road style at the end of the music video, showing that Paul thought highly enough of his soundtrack work to draw direct comparisons to his iconic previous band. And yet Paul dared to go big musically, eschewing nostalgia and recycled ideas in the studio in favor of booming, gated drums and 80's production that has made a comeback in pop music in recent years. He had one foot in the past and one foot in the future, while giving a sly wink to the audience and proving that he had the songwriting chops and the goofy, playful demeanor that Ringo often received credit for. Paul could do it all, and did it all he did.
