Led Zeppelin Listen to this Erik, the new audience source for 6/21/77 LA Forum gig, it’s on as I type !
The Byrds (Untitled) is a damn fine record that I enjoyed this afternoon.
The sound quality on these early recordings from the original line up of King Crimson are a bit rough, though Plumpton doesn't sound too bad to me. Moreover, it's a commanding, adventurous performance with plenty of improvisation and madness. Each of the band members gets plenty of opportunities to shine in different ways, though the inimitable Michael Giles really kills it throughout. It's remarkable how confident these guys were right out of the gate. Essential.
"Terry's Last Stand"--Chicago Recorded at a telethon in NY. The recorded sound is only fair, and the band gets tighter and hotter as the recording unfolds. This was guitarist Terry Kath's Last recording with the group. 155 minutes.

Mother Earth - "Desired Effect" (rec. 1995)
The UK classicist rock quartet caught on the European 1995 tour delivering a representative mix from their first three albums. Soulful, jazzy, psychedelic and jammy in equal proportions, as if the 90s were the 60s. Good stuff.

Vinny Golia - "Live at the Century City Playhouse" (rec. 1979)
A recital of free chamber music arranged for woodwinds, clarinet, cornet and trombone by the renown US jazz multi-instrumentalist, with Bobby Bradford and John Carter in the performing quartet's lineup. Another fine archival release by the Dark Tree record label.
