That's not the music that is scaring you. That's the action on the screen.... That said the scariest music I've ever heard happened in a Catholic Church for a Funeral. That was creepy for me....

Lately I've been getting into Charles Manson "Lie: The Love and Terror Cult" and The Manson Family "The Family Jams". Of course, the stories of the famiily makes it creepy, but I'm quite sure that there is a creepy vibe to the music. It could be all in my mind though. When I was younger, I did not want to touch it, but with all the material online about the whole case and the music, I decided to take a dive.

Worms by the Pogues is pretty scary

The worms crawl in and the worms crawl out
The ones that crawl in are lean and thin
The ones that crawl out are fat and stout
Your eyes fall in and your teeth fall out
Your brains come tumbling down your snout
    Be merry my friends
    Be merry

My go-to creepy music is Bob Drake. His records The Skull Mailbox and 13 Songs and a Thing are super unsettling. These are also some favorites:

    All Samhain LPs
    Holly Herndon - PROTO
    Radiohead - Kid A
    Twin Peaks soundtracks/scores
    Both Suspiria soundtracks
Liars - They Were Wrong So We Drowned

First to come to mind is Black Sabbath from their debut. That satanic trichord creeps me out pretty good.

Love the Ligeti tracks in Eyes Wide Shut, amazing atmospheric. Same goes for the Requiem track in 2001 A Space Odyssey, utterly terrifying. I believe its a modified track, so not the original.

Lot of Ligeti music is terrifying, or at least unsettling. Its ideal music if you want your guests to leave ;)

Also some Stockhausen - Hymnen (if needed, the whole 6 hrs of it).

The Stooges - We Will Fall
Dr. John - Litanie des Saints (creepy until the ending, which always makes me happy)
Brian Eno - On Land - I like listening to this on headphones, it gets pretty eerie.

There's a German band I like a lot called Bohren & der Club of Gore - it's like jazz noire ambient stuff. A lot of their music is creepy but I love listening to it.

Ooh, can’t believe I forgot this. The Cindy Lee record from a few years ago, Act of Tenderness, is terrifying

I was just sampling the work of ZNR last night. I think it may have been this very track of which you speak that I was listening to and I thought to myself that this was a remarkably creepy sounding piece.

I wonder if there’s a longer version out there, but yeah it’s intense and scary.

Good one and the back story behind the Smile “Fire” section makes it all the more eerie

Side 3 of Tago Mago messed me up pretty good the first time.

Welcome To My Nightmare? Freaked me out: I was five, and it was Halloween night.

and possibly most surprising? Same age, but... “Toccata” by ELP scared the crap out of me as a kid.

Years ago I saw a band called “Suburban Lawns” (I’m relatively sure that was the name) and I had to leave the show because the music made me feel physically uncomfortable. I never could figure out why.
