    Well, better late than never...

A toilet can be seen in King Vidor's classic silent The Crowd, made in 1928. It came as a great surprise to me because, like you, I'd always heard that Hitch was the first to put one onscreen.

I, too, concur with stereoptic's observations about the decline of subtly sophisticated, adult humor. This was one of the unexpected benefits of the more censorious movie, TV, radio and recording policies of the past. While I'm glad, for the most part, that we live in a more freely expressive, less puritanical/hypocritical age today, there's no denying something has been lost.

    Michael I LOVE WIDE S-T-E-R-E-O!

Wonder why the ODD COUPLE haven't shown up on DVD yet? Any rumors abound?

Grant Life is a rock, but the radio rolled me!

I always felt that so many of the skits were improvised. They had that raw feeling.

amazing how this one line could bring back to memory one of the funniest half-hours of television I've ever seen. god, that episode was hilarious! thanks for the laugh.

it was also fun to see who could be the first to spot Les Nessman's newest Band-Aid in each show.

you guys have hit all the good ones, but I would add my vote for Northern Exposure. not a sit-com in the usual sense of the term, but great characters, wry humor and a beautiful setting. how could anyone watch that show and not want to live in mythical Sicily?
