There are a lot of good love songs. When I've got a lot of work done & caught up with everyone else's favourites I will share some more of my favourite love songs.
I hope you & your wife had a nice Valentines Day. I did. We spent most of the day listening to the Love Story boxset & then we watched a few romantic films. I love "Crazy" by Patsy Cline.
One more to add from my Rosie & The Originals post....this song comes in as as very close to number one as well....Brenda Lee ❤️Maven
Some off the top of my head: Close To You - Carpenters I Will Always Think About You - The New Colony Six How Can I Be Sure - The Rascals Feels Like The First Time - Foreigner Could It Be Magic - Barry Manilow I Love You - Donna Summer I Love you - Climax Blues Band I Wanna Be Where You Are - Michael Jackson Going Out Of My Head - Little Anthony & The Imperials Crazy On You - Heart I Love You - People
Some people have pretty broad tastes. I like anything as quiet as Ann Williamson or The Carpenters but also like something as loud as Celine Dion, Jennifer Rush & Whitney Houston though I'm now starting to get into opera & I like anything in between. I had no choice but to learn to appreciate opera as I got told by my Manager I'd have to learn to appreciate & sing opera at some point. (I work in the arts/crafts, history & music side of heritage preservation.) It is a fantastic song.
I love that Carpenters song & Donna Summer song. Off the top of my head, other than the song I shared (My Love is like a red, red rose) I like both Jennifer Rush's & Celine Dion's version of The Power of Love, both Whitney Houston's & Dolly Parton's version of I Will Always Love You, John Denver's Annie's Song, Meatloaf's I'd Lie For You, Bryan Adams's Everything I do (I do it for you), Manhattan Transfer's Chanson d'amour & going back into Scots/Irish I think Annie Laurie is beautiful.
Gotta admit i've only heard one of those songs, and those are the ones by Dolly Parton and Celine Dion.
I forgot to mention I love Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler. I'll share Annie's song as I don't know how much you'll like Scottish music. I hope you enjoy.
You kidding? The Scots are known for putting out some of the best soul music around! That song is a stone classic!
No. I normally listen to the more traditional Scottish songs though. O.K. Annie Laurie for you below. I love soul music. Total Eclipse of the Heart is brilliant.
I've always viewed it as being largely in F Major: | BbMaj7 | ./. | A-7 | D7 | G-7 | A-7 | B-7(b5) | FMaj7 | G-7 | BbMaj7 | Fmaj7 - I view the D7 as a V of ii, not a V of vi. .......IV...............iii.....V of ..ii......iii.....passing......I...........ii.........IV............I ........................(^or ii-V of ii) That sort of illustrates how it comes across as a jazz standard to me. I never could figure out why the B-7(b5) works so well, however.
Cat Stevens - How Can I Tell You? Neil Young - Harvest Moon Carpenters - For All We Know Simon And Garfunkel - For Emily...(live version)
And the followup (same flat type of sax break but still like the record with its bare-bones production):
