normally I consider 'Blackbird' my favourite "Beatles" song, though in reality it is purely McCartney solo. Therefore I leave that one off this time in favour of an actual band creation. Next in line would have been 'Because', however that one is John, Paul, Harrison, and Martin - but no Ringo. So again, not a full-band track. For today I am going to go with 'Help!'. Here the lads are all present, all playing their regular instruments. It embodies the spirit of the band as they were just before they wandered off in the weeds and could no longer see each others heads through the tall grass
Dear sir or madam won't you read my thread, It occurred to me when I lost my head, It's based on a forum of a man named Steve, And I need a laugh and I want to be an SHF poster, SHF poster (SHF poster, SHF poster)
I'm an ordinary guy: "Hey Jude" is the first Beatles song I remember hearing so that would be my choice. Kudos to @Psychedelic Good Trip for picking George's "I need you", that one also is near and dear to my heart
Sexy Sadie... such a lot crammed in to 3:15 too. Lennon's voice is incredible, lovely plinky-plonk piano intro, silly background vocals, and that perfect long meandering coda with those guitars.
Wow, I'm surprised that the responses are so varied - it's great to see. I was fully expecting a lot of A Day in the Life because it regularly tops polls. Sooo....in my case it really is A Day in the Life. I've already swooned about it in another thread so to sum up: - the opening guitar tugs on my heart strings; I feel emotional just hearing it - it is a proper Lennon-McCartney collaboration - Paul loves it - John 'dug it' - drums
I'll choose From Me To You. Seven weeks at No 1 in the UK, the song which kicked off Beatlemania. Close behind is the George track Love You To, from Revolver.
This is asking an impossible question. My love changes from day to day. So I'll throw out You Know My Name (Look Up the Number). It features a variety of styles and a healthy dose of Beatle humor.
