is it still available to purchase on DVD? I bought a couple sets years ago, but I think they were edited so I quit...
I am going back and forth between Star Trek The Next Generation and The X-Files episodes. I guess they count as old now.
The Real McCoys is still available on DVD, Michael, but apparently “clipped” of 3 minutes, as a reviewer described on Amazon. That’s for the complete series. There’s a Fan Favorites set, too.
I like Have Gun Will Travel Have Gun Will Travel was a very serious minded western that gets over looked. It has some of my favorite lines from Tv. Here a few examples: when I was a sprig, oh how was going to set the world on fire. Look at me now, I ain't even struck the first match yet. I played my cards so close to the vest, I got eye strain trying to make them out. That's how it goes sometimes. A man's walking around all full of vinegar, next thing he knows they are shoveling dirt in his face. Every man has his price. Only Satan is uncorruptible. Virtue is only a matter of degree or convenience, everyone pays their dues. I was there when Quantrall swept through Lawrence Kansas. What we are facing here makes what happened in Kansas look a church picnic I have dove deeper and came up dryer than any man in seven counties.
There is also a little known western called the rebel with nick adams as johnny yuma. that show has maybe my favorite passage of dialogue: I would sure be embarrassed to find out that's not a gun you got pointed in my back. well reb, you could be even more embarrassed if you were to make me prove that it is.
I like Kojak. I know it is a bit formulaic but I find it to be less stodgy and staid than most 70s crime dramas, it had a really quirky sense of humor. It also had some memorable dialog Pax vobiscum, baby. Gather ye rosebuds while ye may, there is a chill in the air. Light a candle baby, a get well card won't do. Forgiving others is charity, forgiving yourself is wisdom We been eightballed, baby You can package that it in a wrap around perfume, and it would still come out with a stink. If we steered clear of every chow house frequented by the wise guys, we be talking all our meals at the automat.\ you better wipe your blood off that money before you start spending it. We live in an imperfect world, and I have a life long membership in it It looks like it gonna be another long night for next of kin It was a throw away line but I like this one: Being a bank of some reputation, we have a certain dress standard. Ms Brenner had trouble adjusting to that standard. Shall we say that she lacked adequate support.
I regularly watch a handful of old programs -- Golden Girls, Leave It To Beaver, Adam 12, The Bob Newhart Show and The Brady Bunch among them. Antenna TV recently got added to my cable lineup and I have watched a couple of episodes of two shows I haven't watched in a long time, Alice and One Day At A Time. They both seem so dated, and not in a good way. When Alice was on, I never noticed how horrible of an actor Philip McKeon, who played Alice's son Tommy, was. Both shows suffer from being too much drama and not enough comedy.
Used to watch those during the summer on TBS back in the 80's. Loved those shows but I see what you mean. Without having seen either in over 25 years I imagine they are not very good. Same happened with Dukes of Hazzard. Loved it as a kid, can't sit thru 5 minutes of it now.
Well, I tried to watch this one, anyway. Lord knows how any of the actors were able to deliver their lines with a straight face!
This show was new when I was 10, and it's still one of my favorites. To this day I am disappointed that it only lasted half a season!
Yes, it's weird watching it. Very brightly lit (for our dim old 1963 COLOR TV's.) But Hitchcock like stories. Interesting to watch..
