I have a blu-ray player I bought at Walmart years ago (LG brand) and the discs play on it fine. I just got Department S today in the mail and it also plays. Both are put out by Network. Department S was also shot in 35mm and looks great.
Wow. "To Serve Man" is a classic episode; what did he play in that -- one of the aliens? I totally don't remember...
Just the other day, I watched episode 10 of Season Two of the newer Jordan Peele TWILIGHT ZONE. I was surprised by its relation to one that you mentioned above.
The Good Life.... now well into S3 and it gets more and more classic every episode. Felicity Kendall and Margo's husband Paul Eddington trying to fill the dishwasher in the kitchen, while the other two are also drunkenly flirting in the living room, is absolute magic. They really don't make 'em like that anymore. EG.
The Lotus Eaters. 1972/73 BBC drama starring Ian Hendry & Wanda Ventham. Revolves around British expats living on Crete. Hendry & Ventham run a tavern, and the first series deals with the ups and downs of the various expats. All is not as it seems though. Ventham is a sleeper agent, whilst Hendry is a 'recovering' alcoholic - previously found 'not guilty' of murdering a schoolgirl - whom Ventham was forced to marry by her handlers. The second series sees the spy aspect unfold. Also features a sympathetic Greek police captain, who takes a shine to Hendry. There are some fabulously written story-lines - particularly poignant in places - whilst Ian Hendry is simply superb. Art mirrors life here, as Ian was an alcoholic; his acting career inevitably destroyed by the booze. Dead at just 53. How sad. I think he was one of the best British actors there's ever been.
I started Breaking Bad the other day and I'm about halfway through season 2. Sometimes these super hyped shows are disappointing but it actually is that good. It's like part family drama, part crime drama, part action movie. And all of the aspects are done so well.
Just started re-watching M*A*S*H from the beginning for the umpteenth time. Also the original Magnum PI's.
Did you see the Bing Crosby Christmas special from 1968 where he gets gifts from his children and one gift is the White album and the joke is something along the lines of “John’s wearing his clothes on this one….”
What most impressed me about Breaking Bad was that it maintained its high level of dramatic tension through the entire run of the series.
I'm near the end of the series now, and I'm sad that it's almost over. At least I've got Better Call Saul to watch next.
