What one album do you consider truly timeless? This question meaning, if recorded media still exists 100, 500 or 1000 years from now, which one album will fascinate the humans of the future?

  6. Nothing in rock or pop music, that's for sure.

I'll go for Miles Davis "Kind Of Blue"

Hard to narrow it down to just one, but for high quality songwriting, enduring music, and sheer variety, I'll say the Beatles' White Album.

I like your definition of "fascinate" folks in the future....
I guess it really depends where they're at...
If music keeps moving into a more homogenised, ultra-processed, dehumanized form ... it may be some of the more earthy, harsh human type stuff.... ranging from early blues and jazz, through early seventies rock, and perhaps early punk.

But it is really hard to pinpoint, as we don't know where those folks in the future will be at ...

Not possible. But right out of my mind i go with

    Saga - s/t

It was released in 1978. But it neihter really sound like 70/'s nor like 80's. And it still sounds fresh (and perfect productionwise).

As far as popular music (rock/rap/country, etc)
    A Hard Day's Night
    Revolver
    Ramones(self titled)
    The Queen Is Dead
    Illmatic
    36 Chambers
    In Folsom Prison
    Hunky Dory
    The Wall
    Man On The Moon

Of course great classical pieces I think will always exist too. Too many albums that cover these for me to think of a specific example at the moment

    Michael Jackson’s Thriller.

Isn’t even my most favourite album of his, but I think it’s one of the most timeless I’ve ever heard.

I'd have trouble picking an album proper as *that* timeless (hundreds of years in the future).

There's various classical compositions (e.g., 1812 Overture), floating around for centuries, but I'm not familiar enough to have an idea which particular performance would be popular for so long

Maybe individual standards that have been played for a century or so

My favorite of those is "It Don't Mean A Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing" by Duke Ellington and Ivie Anderson. I'll nominate that one, though it's not part of an "album" proper

YES! Even if it’s innovations aren’t as obvious today, it does hold up amazingly well.

Admittedly more of an acquired taste, but this bad boy sure doesn’t sound like 1969.

If I look back over my record and cd collection and think of one offering...or a handful...that I can pull out and enjoy the entire album throughout without lifting the stylus to change or skipping tracks......I think would be:

    Steely Dan Aja
Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon
    Phil Collins Face Values
    Bob James Obsession
    Larry Carlton Room 335
    Vivaldi Four Seasons
    Ravel Bolero

but to answer the OP question...which one would be timeless. I would say Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon. It is just captivating with engineering and musicality to match.
