A big one, I think it was a little before.....it seemed I was in line for that one just weeks before. When I went for the GNR release, it was a lineup a quarter mile long. Metallica was mad, this seemed madder. Both fun. Incredible time. Like @Fullbug said, the end of an era for release events of that scale.

Yeah the Vedder cloans were bad and lasted for almost 20 years here and there. What bothered me about Axel was he had the big hair in Jungle then wore it long with bandana after they hit.

Yeah, but at least he dressed much cooler with his big hair, compared to later: tiny white spandex shorts and ..... nothing else

They were just a great rock and roll band.

Funny hats, goofy hair, shock value obscenities that appealed to pre-pubescent boys, and bad behavior that made the news.

    So true regarding Locomotive.

Man, this thread had me go back and listen to all 6 albums, AFF, Lies, UYI I&II, SI, CD.

I ordered UYI (both) on vinyl from Soundstage Direct (ha, think I paid way too much...but good on them for advertising these in their email-made me hit up this thread too) - and I re-purchased Live Era on cd, since I must have lost it or traded it in at some point.

Spaghetti Incident is much better after many years not listening to it. I suppose for what I was expecting from them when it was released, I dismissed it along with many. I listen now and can only hope for a band to put out something like that now.

Incredibly talented band. I hope they do reunite....at least Axl, Slash & Duff. As a few have eluded, I have a sense that Izzy was a song writing machine and when he departed, the well of creativity may have dried up a bit. That said, there has been some damn good stuff along the way. Chinese Democracy seems to be a bit underppreciated. "Street Of Dreams" is a helluva tune. Good record, imo.

Weird, Metallica has remained a multi-platinum act til today (Binge and Purge was a megaseller in the heart of the grunge era), still headlines shows etc; GN'R was still filling arenas and stadiums in 1993 while Kurt and co were struggling to fill arenas on their last tour....But keep on trying to dismantle the patriarchy, maybe someday you'll get it right.

The claim that Nirvana weren't a "hipster" band is bunk. Kurt was the original ironic hipster.

A rotting corpse in the ground and an intentionally absentee father isn't cool to me. The only shame is that the jocks didn't thrash him and people like him in school hard enough to keep them quiet.

Uly, I hate to pee in your cheerios, but hipsters have been around in some form or other since the 19th Century. Kurt Cobain was talented, but hardly the "original hipster"
