This is probably a long shot but... I heard a familiar song on the radio a few days ago. I was sure it was a Peter Gabriel song from the 80s but I can’t find it. So, possibly someone else who sounds a lot like Peter Gabriel? I don’t remember any lyrics, unfortunately. The musical hook, possibly at the opening and repeated throughout, on keyboard or xylophone goes: da. da. dada dada da (x2). Closer in vibe to “Games Without Frontiers” than, say “Sledgehammer”. Any suggestions?

Not a lot to go on!
When you say "familiar", is it a radio staple? Would the average Joe know the song?

Wow- great guess! The verses definitely have that Gabriel growl-y voice

I was thinking maybe Fish era Marillion, but I can't think of anything that's similar to what you're describing.

It's not "Love My Way", but it's closer in sound to that than "Solsbury Hill".

The introduction to Incommunicado maybe? It's definitely a track with nothing to do with Games Without Frontiers.

Pseudo Silk Kimono is like the only track I can think of if this was Marillion in terms of feel but it's too short.

I don't really think Roland Orzabal sounds much like Peter Gabriel though... this actually came to mind first but this is just too obvious.

The keyboard melody goes something like this: https://instaud.io/3KOb . Apologies, used a "virtual piano" to play that!

Can’t you track it back through the radio playlist ? Or recall the lyrics ?

Definitely gotta be it! But that's from this decade of course, not the 80s! That was the red herring. :D

Yes, that's it! Thank you... I never would've figured that out on my own. Wow, that is so not an 80s song! :o

Gotye has apparently retired as a music-based artist. That is a real shame because his albums are great (and he does have a very PG vibe...)
