Led - Zeppelin Immigrant Song good opening and closing song
Procol Harum - Repent Walpurgis.
Van Halen - Happy Trails
David Bowie anything off of Changes One Bowie would make a great encore song
U2 - Zooropa
The Frames - Fitzcarraldo
Zooropa would be a great closer
The Doors - The End
Patti Smith usually encores either "Rock N Roll N******" or "My Generation." Always a great ending.
Roxy Music - For Your Pleasure, except that it already is.
AC/DC - T.N.T.
Zappa - Strictly Genteel
Jimi Hendrix - Little Wing
Kris Kristofferson - "Please Don't Tell Me How the Story Ends"
Steve Winwood encored last night with John Barleycorn, Dear Mr. Fantasy and Gimme Some Loving. I can’t think of a better encore from him.
My choice would be "anything but the usual suspects." One reason I love Springsteen's Tempe 1980 show is that he opens with Born to Run, gets that out of the way and starts the show with a major rush for fans. In 2008 ACDC did Back in Black early in the setlist. Get the hits out front and use the encores for something interesting.
Jethro Tull Locomotive Breath has been a great closer
Steely Dan, Bodhisattva
The Pretty Things - S.F. Sorrow Is Born
The Beatles, I Want You (She's So Heavy).
Rolling Stones - Never Too Into
How come such a great song never made it on the final album? If Mick is watching this thread maybe he'll cave
Fun Fun Fun
Todd Rundgren/Utopia: Just One Victory
"Entre nous" by Rush
I'd love to see REO Speedwagon finish with a double whammy of Lightning and Lost In A Dream.
It'll never happen!
Phish - first tube
