That’s really all you need. Best one I’ve ever heard.

Those are my thoughts to having been through most of the vintage Pioneers, Sansuis, Kenwoods etc.

I'd like to update my post. I got the Marantz 2230 back and it's a fab refurb, playing right now with those beautiful blue lights. I have a Denon DP-60L w/MC cart, spinning the vinyl and Klipsch KG-4 speakers in the main downstairs system.

My tech friend also did tune-ups on a Marantz 2235B and Sansui 7070. We did a brief shootout today upstairs in a different room from my main system with a Pioneer PL-540,MM cart, and KG-4's using Marantz 2252B,2235b,and the Sansui 7070. We both thought the Sansui had more clarity and better soundstage but the bass was not enough set flat and too flabby with the loudness button in. We tweaked the bass, mid,and treb til we got a sound we liked but we both preferred Marantz for more smoothness and instantly more pleasing bass,( loudness in or out). He liked the 2235B best but my final choice for the upstairs was the 2252B. All were decent sounding with Sansui having more detail and soundstage but not as pleasing in the bass and the Marantz being not as wide stage, more focused, and more pleasing over all balance.

Sorry about that. How about now?

I'm not familiar with posting pictures on this forum. I'm trying the "direct link" option from the Imgur picture hosting site.

Perfect! Great Sony, I've got a STR-V4 circa 77'-78' hoping to get put together soon and I'll be posting mine.

Hard to pick a favorite between the ones I own. Usually a tie between a Marantz 18 and 19.

Finally got around to testing this. NM condition...all lights work...all functions work.

This is actually a very nice little receiver. Pushed some 4 ohm Canton Karat 30's quite nicely in my little test system.

I can comfirm this is comparable to other brands of the late 70's. Glad I grabbed it.

When my Marantz 2230 was being serviced, I put in a $15 thrift Yamaha CR-240 and I gotta say, it had a very pleasing sound to it and a really nice headphone amp.

Have a Sansui 771 which sounds nice and I am getting ready to recap and change the transistors on the driver board.

Lusting after a Sansui AU-717 integrated amp as I have no need for a tuner.

Since last I posted in this thread I’ve gotten recapped and restored Sansui Six and Eight. I’d like to find an Onkyo TX-8500 and maybe my vintage receiver bug will be finished. Maybe.;)

Pioneer SA-9900. Don't know much about its specs in terms of current needs but I really like it, especially tone control abilities, built-in phono stage and multiple inputs - really covers my needs for disc, vinyl and digital playback at home.
P.S. if someone is knowledgeable about its phono stage quality - would be cool to hear from you just to know if I may consider a future upgrade.
