King of the Road By Roger Miller, great lyric and melody, one of those songs that's so easy it sounds like it's writing itself as it goes along.

Haven't read the whole thread, but I'll toss Daydream Believer out there.
Used to know a woman named Jean. For whatever reason, she didn't like hearing her name in songs, but DB makes me think of her.
I miss her, she hates me (not my fault, she just needs to be free and didn't know how to have it both ways, so she struggled with US).
Like the great old song goes - It's a Thin Line Between Love and Hate. Oh well, we move on whether we want to or not.

As far as a "pop" song goes, I really like Earn Enough For Us off Skylarking.

I can. I can really argue with that. Why? Because it was ubiquitous for a time? So was 'gandum style'. Neither are 1/585,274,657 the pop song 'Eight Days a Week' is. And that's one of my least favorite Beatles songs.
Question does a perfect pop song need to be hugely popular? Or is it just a style of music? If it's the latter I'd say Animal Collective (and Panda Bear), MGMT, Beach House, Belle & Sebastian, and Grizzly Bear have all put out songs in recent years I would describe as "perfect pop songs".

Based on the Music Artists you listed, thought you would like to know that I did list a Deerhunter Song(Snakeskin) in this thread, that was a great Pop Song(in the Style of Talking Heads-IMO), that was not typical of most of their Music, but of course with 7-%-80% of the Members here thinking that all Pop Songs originated in the 1960s/1970s, my Deerhunter Song listed did not get any 'Likes' I even provided a link for people to check it out.
