I was totally fascinated by these shows when I was a kid. They were still on in the early 1970s, "Line", then hosted by Larry Blyden and "Truth" by Garry Moore.
I didn't see the old "Line" shows until a bit later. I absolutely love John Charles Daly, Cerf, Francis, Kilgallen, et. al. You will never see such an erudite and delightfully droll group like that on TV ever again. Obviously, many of the shows are on YouTube, I can easily lose myself and spend hours watching them.

Whatever happened to Orson Bean? He was a guest on the "Tonight Show" all the time in the 1970s, he seemed to be on every other week!

I've developed an intellectual crush on Daly. It looks like he'd be fun at parties. Wishing I could have the whole crew at one of my barbecues.

I love listening to him talk! They all have that cultivated, mid-Atlantic speaking style that is all but gone today.

My mother had that same speaking style. I love it, too.

I thought she was kinda cute there, and other times on that show around that time.

I’m going to flip all the cards on this one . :D

My wife and I were watching a What’s My Line?
the other night and I mentioned to her that John Charles Daly seemed like such a nice, interesting, smart guy.

It’s always a hoot watching him interpret guests answers for the panel :

“While it can be said his profession requires a degree of dexterity, on the whole that dexterity doesn’t really figure prominently in his profession ...” etc . :D

Yes, she shot President Kennedy from the grassy knoll, or... something . :p ;)

Seriously, as a reporter she claimed she was about to expose some info about the Kennedy assasination that she said would blow the lid off the case, or similar.

She died right before she was going to release that info , ruled a suicide, some think she was murdered.

That being said, let’s avoid all that conjecture here and stick to the game shows. It’s a fun thread so let’s get back to Bill Cullen and Bennett Cerf , etc. :D

Speaking of Bennett Cerf, I seem to remember he was insulted or something on air by Henry Morgan which started a feud or rift. Does anybody know the details, I can't recall them now.

I always wondered why Bill Cullen was famous; the only thing I'd ever seen him on was other game shows.

He is considered to be the best game show host in history. He is absolutely revered by game show fanatics on the internet.
