The good news is people can enjoy the mono mix of Again again!
I was lucky to find one about 12 years ago. It be a treat.

Is it dedicated or a fold?

Considering I've never been able to find a copy of the old '97 mono/stereo CD of the first album, maybe this set will be worth picking up....??

  6. Hopefully a vinyl set won’t be far behind.

I went ahead and ordered this purely for the mono mix of Again but what I'd really like is an LP set. Crossing fingers that an announcement about vinyl comes before the CD release but not holding my breath.

They certainly could've found a better picture of the band for this!

This band deserves a nice high quality vinyl box set but if this is all we get, I'll take it. I still can't believe the mono Again was left off the BS box set!

Considering the other things left off of the box:

    - stereo mix of s/t
    - 45 mixes of Mr. Soul, Bluebird, Uno Mundo, and Merry-Go-Round
    - long/alternate version of Bluebird

The absence of the mono mix of Again isn't that much of a surprise.

Yet another missed opportunity to finally reissue the ultra-cool stereo mix of
"Baby Don't Scold Me" in a digital format. Might take a pass on this unless
    the remastering is truly stellar.

Neil certainly makes his share of strange decisions, that's for sure.

The irony is that is one of the best sounding stereo mixes.

Nice, but I won't be paying over £100 more for it than the CD. I already have a nice mono UK 'Baby Don't Scold Me' pressing of the debut.

  16. I’m on the fence about the cd set, but I’ll probably end up getting it while I keep vigil for the vinyl set.

The price will come down. The Otis Redding vinyl set came down to as little as £65 for a very short while. It's worth us all keeping our eyes on this one...

@Steel Woole, any explanation for the omission of the stereo mix of Baby Don't Scold Me?

    Neil.
Ditto the addition of "For What It's Worth" at the end of side B on the mono first LP.

    Ugh.

    At least that makes sense.

And at least a good needledrop of Baby Don't Scold Me exists.

IIRC, it was also missing a few tracks/mixes from Last Time Around, too.

Funny, I could have sworn I just mentioned that somewhere. But yes:

On The Way Home (alt mix on box)
Pretty Girl Why (alt mix on box)
Four Days Gone (demo on box)
Carefree Country Day (not on box)
The Hour of Not Quite Rain (not on box)

The irony being that this song is better than a lot of the rest of the album. I was floored when I finally heard it (picked up Last Time Around many years after the box set) and couldn't believe it had been left off.

The vinyl box is nice, but I've already got OG pressings of Again (bought in Nashville for $10, along with a first pressing of The Gilded Palace Of Sin!) and LTA (pulled from a second-hand bin in Amoeba SF and looks like it hadn't ever been played), plus I don't really like the first album so I'll pass.

Will probably get the CD box set though, just to have those mono mixes (which I haven't heard).

Why does Neil get a say on a song that he didn't have a hand in writing? Curious, as it seems like sheer bloody-mindedness.
