BFA in Mono is hardly essential unlike the first album. I was wondering if it's a fold down but if this wasn't a dedicated mix why would they bother?

A lot of it is very noticeably dedicated, but I'm wondering if it all is.

I don’t think Bluebird has any moments where there’s an immediately obvious difference (i.e., an extra guitar part or something), but the folded down stereo mix sounds different enough to indicate the mono is dedicated.

Well that explains it. I haven't heard Again in mono. Looking forward to it.

Yes, if it weren't for the release discussed in this thread, I wouldn't have known that the Canadian wasn't dedicated. I can tell for sure that 3 tracks actually are folds: Mr. Soul, Hung Upside Down and Rock'n'Roll Woman.

This box set sounds fantastic on my system. Both the mono and stereo LPs.

I use a mono Ortofon cartridge for the mono which I really like on my system. Not trying to start any debates on the merits of using a mono cartridge, just being transparent.

The stereo LPs really bring out the separate guitars being played which is interesting considering who the players are. I heard these on a lesser system and it didn’t sound as noticeable.

As Neil stated in the notes, the bass is brought out just right. I use 2 subwoofers and the sound is quite full, tight and balanced.

    YMMV.

Woulda been nice if Neil had done something besides cut and paste his notes on the five albums, but such is Mr. Soul......
