It got eaten by a tape deck. I never replaced it.

I honestly have over 100 albums that meet the set criteria. I still by music by new bands/artists.

It took me some thought to figure out what my "qualifying title" was, though it was made easier by the fact that as a kid, I didn't have the wherewithal to buy a ton of albums.

I bought more singles back in that period since they were cheaper. Until I was 12 or so, albums were mainly reserved for birthday or Christmas presents.

Actually, I think I got "Foreigner" for my b-day in 1977!

No, you don't, as the thread is about the first time you bought a debut that was still all the artist released.

I can name a bunch of debuts I bought before the 2nd album hit as well, but only one was my first.

You can't have a second album that meets the criteria!

Hey, the thread title was profanity free at first, but then the posts started to come in - and most didn't answer the question as asked, so it was clear no one read the OP.

Though the rule is in the title anyway - is the notion of "1st debut album" really that tough to comprehend?

Sight unheard. I just liked the way the guys looked and the song titles on the back of the LP attracted my attention.

Little did I know that they would blow up the following year and change hip-hop/rap forever.

I had a great answer, but I'm afraid it'll be somehow wrong and I'll get yelled at. So I'll just pass on this thread...

You know you set yourself up for a life of aggravation demanding that people read the OP and follow it.

Anyway I think mine was The Door's first album.

I imagine for a lot of men my age it would be the debuts from Dire Straits, The Cars or Pat Benatar. Those were big hits out of the box in an era dominated by veterans who had cut their teeth in the sixties.

A little older and it would almost certainly be Boston.
