Um ok dad. Whatever you say.

Only a certain kind of poster goes out of their way to get a dig in, and I suppose you are one those.

Every forum has them, always a drag to encounter them.

On the other hand I get to use the ignore function for the first time!! thanks Frankengellico!

Well, I THINK it was a Bobby Vee album...but I vaguely remember his first album was already a "greatest hits"...so I dunno.

Just in case, I'll note that for sure, an album I bought that was a sole release was .......arrgggh.. shot by a gort laser for almost breaking the rule.....I'm mellllltttttting.....I'm meltiinnnnnggg

The Police Outlandos d'Amour, I think (possibly the Cars). Aerosmith’s debut was close to new, but not quite.

I believe Strange Days was out when I bought the debut by The Doors but I can’t be sure to a moral certainty.

Not sure what his point was, but it is the case that you didn’t reply to the OP’s question. Is that being a “dad”?

I bought lots of debut albums by different artists but the following debut albums are the ones that I bought upon their very first release and when the albums were the only ones released by the artists at their respective time.

The Stylistics : The Stylistics (1971)
Christopher Cross : Christopher Cross (1979)
Donald Fagen : The Nightfly (1982)
Men At Work: Business As Usual (1982)
Sting: The Dream Of the Blue Turtles (1985)

My best guess for the very first debut album I bought was the first album by Santana.

I can't remember for sure, but it was probably Boston.

I remember buying Silverchair’s first album at a school fair in the mid 90s. That was likely the first. I didn’t know it was a debut album when I bought it though, I just knew their song from the radio.

That's a really good question. After giving it a good though I think it might be the Klaus Voormann produced first album by Trio, the very first pressing before they added "Da Da Da". Which didn't exist when the album first came out.

I may be forgetting something, but I'm fairly certain it was Bleach by Nirvana. I can't think of many other bands I was listening to in my teens that hadn't released at least one other album before I started buying their stuff. Nirvana were special in that regard.

EDIT: Nevermind... It was Appetite for Destruction.

EDIT 2: Actually... It was probably Licensed to Ill.

I want to say it was Talking Heads 77; but I fear it was Boston.
