What's the cheapest way of getting a SPDIF output into a PC?

    Hi,
I haven't been around for a while and reading the forums I wonder why.
A bunch of pre-recorded music tapes from Newfoundland have landed in my lap.
I have been asked to transfer them to CD before they degrade any further. I have an ART-DIO ADC/DAC that I would love to use for transfering the tapes to hard drive, but my Creative Soundcard does not have a SPDIF in. Now I see that some of the fancier cards -- which are about 5 times the price and include 5 channels of fun and 24 bit ADCs which I don't need -- do have SPDIF in.
Does anyone know of a card that ONLY does SPDIF in/out duty or a workaround. I see on the card a little square jack labeled cd digital in. Can something be jerry rigged to use it? Jeff

I think I checked this one out.
It has SPDIF in but not out. Jeff

Why would you need an S/PDIF output in this situation?

    Got that one backward.
The aforementioned card, from the weblink, only has sdif out.
I need spdif in. Sorry. Jeff

I do like the look of that one.
There seem to be a number of local retailers listed as carrying it. Thanks. My mistake was asking at the computer stores. I should have headed to a music shop! Jeff

The reason I asked about that S/PDIF out is because Wal Mart carries a real nice external board that connects to the computer via a USB 2.0 link. The board has both S/PDIF input as well as an analog input and it runs about $39.95.

OK, I was wrong. I just came back from Wal Mart and the little Sound Blaster card does have S/PDIF input and output, as well as analog input and output and 2 microphone inputs. It connects to the computer via a 2.0 USB cord. It is $39.95.

    Hey Rockman,
    Seems like the right devices.
Does anyone know if the Canadian Walmart carries it?
They looked at me in Best Buy and Futureshop as it I had a guitar sticking out of my head. Jeff
