I’ll vouch for this, as I was there, too.

Brett, did you see them at the Springfield Civic Center, or was it Boston Garden?

Looks like Garbage played 10 songs at the Baltimore show I saw - probably an hour-long set, I'd estimate.

    ND did 19 songs - 1 encore, 2 songs!

Nickelback opening for 3 Doors Down in a small club in 2000. I think they had one song ("Leader Of Men") that just started getting some airplay on the radio at the time, I thought they sounded ok and then about a year later, they were all over the radio with "How You Remind Me".

There is an actual video of the one i saw. AUD shot. I asked the guy for a dvd copy but he said to just download the youtube version he put out.
Yea, it was 10 songs too. It was a 45min set. I remember it feeling shorter. Like a 30min set or something.

Marylin Manson opening for Nine Inch Nails at the old Philly Spectrum - This was right as Marylin's first album came out and hadn't hit MTV yet. NIN on the other hand was huge at this point on their Downward Spiral tour.

Head & the Heart opening for Grand Hallway at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle - One of, if not their last, opening show before they got big. Most of the Seattleites were there to see them and actually left after they played!

I saw Young and Useless open for Pil. They insulted the audience by suggesting that that audience wanted to perform a sexual act with "johnny rotten."

Taylor Swift: she opened for Brad Paisley, April 26, 2007. She was actually fourth-billed on the show, also behind Jack Ingram and Kellie Pickler.

Oh, yes - The Stones own this thread. Among the artists I've seen open for them, all at the height of their powers:

GnR (with Living Colour, to boot)
    Pearl Jam
    Santana
    Metallica
    Sheryl Crow
    Red Hot Chili Peppers

I guess this is sorta standard for a lot of stadium tours. I recall seeing the Pretenders, Seal, and Public Enemy all open for for U2 during their various stadium tours in the 80s and 90s.

I only met the bassist. Very nice guy. He was impressed with my drumming. (At least he said he was.)
