What's your favorite song with only TWO chords? Mine is "Baby Come Back" by The Equals. Yours??

And it's why relying on the Internet for correct song information, be it chords or lyrics, is often a bad idea.

"96 Tears" goes to Em in the bridge.

I saw "Trip" and "JA" and immediately thought of Jefferson Airplane.

That led me to another candidate for this thread, "Fat Angel" by Donovan — which, of course, mentions Jefferson Airplane in the lyrics and was also made a part of that band's own repertoire.

To be fair, an everyday listener can really enjoy music and yet not take a "musician's" perspective on it, to the point of being able to identify one chord as distinct from another.

My problem is with some of the stuff that appears on chord sites online, which, you would think, would be things created by musicians. I look at some of those and wonder "What song were you listening to? It sure wasn't this one!"

I know what you’re saying but some of the examples given have such an obvious and distinctive change to a third chord. I wonder if people are just replaying the verse part in their heads and forgetting the changes in the chorus or middle eight?
And I know what you mean about those chord (and lyric) sites!

Hey! Not only does my favorite song only have two chords, it also has no middle eight and no solo. I'm surprised Hawkwind weren't able to narrow it down to just one chord.

Two chords, some reverb, and a couple of shrieks is all you need to manufacture a lot of spook.

In my old covers band we used to play The Crystal Chandelier and Jambalaya, two chords each... at least in the versions with me playing guitar :tiphat:

I'm pretty sure Born in the USA is one chord, it just rides the riff all the way
