Guitar Shorty's "Watch Your Back" 2004 on Alligator.A long career that started in the 50's,recording his first single for the Cobra label in Chicago, sadly ended last month April 20.He put on a hell of a show if you ever go a chance to see him. His playing and vocals so good.
I'm shaking my head. I have 20 John Lee Hooker releases. I have checked out many more. I thought I had seen them all and them something like this pops up that I've never seen or know anything about. The John Lee Hooker and Lightnin' Hopkins discographies are wearing me out. Their music never will.
I just watched an older movie last night- Last King Of Scotland- and thought 'How great would James McAvoy be playing Rory in a biopic?'
I can relate mwheelerk ... I have been buying and collecting Blues LP's for many many years, and just when I think I have seen most titles, another one pops up! I am deep in the "rabbit hole"!
I listened to the radio this morning and there was a live version of "a million miles away" by Rory Gallagher. It was years ago that I last listened to it. I came to think that this must be one of the best blues songs around, but i am prejudiced......
I've been enjoying Chris Cain's first album Late Night City Blues. It is SO GOOD! His playing really hits that Albert King sweet spot that I love. And the songs are really good.
Junior Wells - Coming At You. 2018 U.S. remaster/reissue on the Craft Recordings label. Cut from the original analogue masters by Ron McMaster. Originally released in 1968.
