I second the earlier posting of this record --- Hoodoo Man Blues is a masterpiece start to finish. The first track is one of my all time favorite songs.
Since "Hoodoo Man Blues" and Otis Rush's "Right Place Wrong Time" were already mentioned above I'll have to go with this one today...
Memphis Slim Too difficult to choose... Legend Of The Blues, Vol.1 or Legacy Of The Blues, Vol.7 anyway, both come from the same session, AFAIK
Amazing it took over 50 posts to have this mentioned. Maybe overexposure?? The Centennial Edition remastering is the best I've heard for this material. I am not a fan of CDs generally but this was noteworthy.
As far as I am concerned, after all these years, it's still the Holy Grail of the blues records. Well, thinking about Me and the Devil Blues, not so holy...
Anybody else ever seen these? When I lived in England from 1992 to 1995 these would be at the newsagent every two weeks. You would get a CD and booklet spotlighting a different Blues Artist. I bought the binders and got the first 50 before I came back to the US. Great recordings and the books had excellent pictures and information.
