A few decades ago I noticed that Bobby Bland had two albums ranked in the NME best albums of 1974 (although technically one came out in 1973) - His California Album and Dreamer. And it's taken me until now to finally pick them up. So I'm giving the earlier album another spin. Both are excellent and left me wondering why I'd never bought them before. Backing Vocals – Ginger Blake, Julia Tillman*, Maxine Willard* Bass – Max Bennett, Wilton Felder Concertmaster [Strings] – Sid Sharp* Conductor, Arranged By, Piano, Organ – Michael Omartian Drums – Ed Greene (2) Guitar – Ben Benay, David Cohen, Dean Parks, Larry Carlton, Mel Brown Horns – Chuck Findley, Dick Hyde, Ernie Watts, Jack Kelson, Jr.*, Paul Hubinon Anyone know what the later ABC & MCA albums are like?
Another Classic suggestion "Aftermath"! If I could only keep one Muddy Waters title, this would be my choice, althought I do have 3 nice copies ... original USA and Canadian pressings, and the Speakers Corner which sounds excellent!
Blind Willie McTell & Curley Weaver: The Post War Years 1949-1950 I have to admit that I have enjoyed these document records albums. They seem to have decent quality, and the tracks are really great. (From DROffline MKII) (14298601428)
1st spin and my 4th Lightnin' LP thus far..... Blue Lightnin' 1967 Lightnin' Hopkins 1979 Japanese King/Sevens Seas Cat: LAX 152 Foldout Insert
Nice selection of tunes "paddrino" ... I do indeed share your interest in Piedmont Blues! He will forever be remembered for his 1928 song "Statesboro Blues"! My Blind Willie selection for today ... Blind Willie McTell – Last Session - (Bluesville 1961)
Johnny Winter - Self Titled. German Speakers Corner 2011 remaster/reissue. Originally released in 1969. Johnny can definitely sing and play blues.
