A first play of this special US issue that was a 'must buy' for me despite having obtained a M- Oz copy only a couple of months ago. I saw Roy live in February 1988 only a few months after the release of this his final album so now it's like coming full circle almost 35 years later! First listen to this album today. I liked it but it is not straight up blues... Chris Thomas King – Me, My Guitar And The Blues Label: Blind Pig Records – BPCD 5064 Format: CD, Album Country: US Released: 1999 Genre: Blues That is not a negative thing but it is equally soulful...
A great album by a great new blues artist. I have both of his but I like his first one (this one) a little better. I think he's going to have a great future.
This was my first full listen and I enjoyed it a lot! I haven't heard the other, I'll stream that now. I'll likely end up purchasing both.
B.B. King - Lucille. 1995 MoFi Anadisq 200 limited edition numbered remaster/reissue that I bought new.
Albert Collins, Robert Cray, Johnny Copeland - Showdown. 1995 MoFi Anadisq 200 Limited Edition Numbered remaster/reissue. I bought this new.
Enjoying an LP title this afternoon featuring a compilation of Gold Star 78 singles issued between 1948 and 1952 on the Arhoolie Records label. Good stuff! Texas Blues Volume 1 (Arhoolie Records 1963)
Canned Heat - Living The Blues. 2021 RSD limited edition double LP. LP 1 translucent yellow. LP 2 translucent red.
Interesting early Hooker title on the table this evening. Collection of 78 rpm singles recordings made under the alias name of "Texas Slim" in 1949, along with 4 recordings made by Earl Hooker in 1952. John Lee Hooker - Sings Blues (Regency 1960) Canadian Mono pressing
Re B.B. King Lucille. By "going rate" you mean what did I pay for it new in 1995? Back then I think I paid right around $40 for it new. Paid the same for the Showdown LP I posted also. Bought from the same place (my local Linn dealer at the time). I also bought some MoFi Moody Blues.
Just got this Proper Box in the mail , I already own probably at least 85 of the 100 tracks but needed those to complete the collection. It's nice to hear all of his participation in one listening session too
Next up in the morning queue ... Brownie McGhee And Sonny Terry – Down Home Blues (Sharp Record Co. 1961)
