Here's a link from discogs that explains each issue in the series. There were 92 total and I got the first 50. Due to copyright constants these were not available in the USA. http://www.discogs.com/lists/The-Blues-Collection/25834
Buck, R.L's dog featured on the cover, was killed in a drive by shooting in August 1993. I love dogs, and this just tears me up. Recorded at Junior Kimbrough's juke joint, Chulahoma, Mississippi in April 1993. Produced by Robert Palmer.
Here's a modern day harmonica player that played with many of the greats - Hubert Sumlin, Pinetop Perkins, and Jimmy Rogers to name a few.
Is Stevie Ray Vaughan "Sky Is Crying" considered blues? I also like Jonny Lang "Lie To Me." The CD sounds amazing.
Oh Hell Yeah... For those who don't recognize him this is Nick Cave from the cover of the record "The First Born is Dead" For a white guy he crushes it with Blind Lemon Jefferson off of that record. Some of the songs are not really the Blues in any traditional sense. He is one of my all time favorite artists.
One of my fave albums of all time and a huge influence on my guitar playing. I loved seeing R.L play and getting a few chances to talk w him. a Hero!
Many great albums listed and a lot to check out. Willie Dixon's I AM THE BLUES is a favourite of mine as is The Best Of Lightnin' Slim
Yes, The Centennial Collection is very recommendable. It has the alternate takes in the end, after the master takes of each session. A much better listening experience.
