    1980: my father bought a Technics SL-D1
2014: my father is no longer into vinyl and enjoy the comfort of bluetooths speakers and streaming services, so I grabbed the Technics and started my own system and collection!

By my calculations, your next turntable will be an RP11! ;)

    2013/2020 1975 PIONEER PL-112D, current TT as of 2020, bought online. not my dream-TT or anything, but it's a PIONEER, and plenty good enough for me;

    Aristona 1312 > Technics SL-23 > Reloop RP-2000 MK3 > Stanton ST.150 > Technics SL-1200 MK2 > Technics SL-1210 M5G > Technics SL-1200 MK4 > Pioneer PLX-1000 > Technics SL-1200G

But the 1312 and SL-23 were borrowed.

Least favorite was the RP6 because I expected a lot of it and it didn't quite get there in my system.

Way back when I had a Gerrard 40B. When CD's came I started buying them and in almost no time the record store I went to had completely switched over. I gave all of my vinyl to my brother and I haven't owned a turntable since.

Technics (cant remember the make) 1985 - 1990 - first turntable I ever bought
Technics SL1200 (1990-2000) a gift from my brother as he moved to CD
Project (2000 - 2007) Technics went belly up - wasn't listening to LPs so much so bought a relatively inexpensive Project
Linn LP12 (2007-2009) Started to get heavily back into LPs - beautiful sound but a sod to stay that way.
VPI SSM (2009 - present day but seriously modded) a workhorse, nothing phases it

Only 5 tables in 35 years. In a year or so's time I am going to buy a second table (TW Acustics Raven probably) and keep the VPI for used LPs only.

My first player was a portable turntable only for 45, when I was eight
Then came a crappy all in one stereo with a BSR changer.
As a teenager an AKAI rack, with a DD, that wasn't that bad with an AT95
The first "real" turntable I bought with my money was a Thorens 166 that I still proudly own.
Induced by the hype, I bought a Rega p3 2000; never liked it. I gave it for present to a young colleague fascinated by vinyl records.
Bought the Marantz tt15s-1 mainly due to the beautiful design, then discovered it is indeed a very very good turntable.
A friend gave me his Luxman pd 272, I love the design and the superior building quality, but cannot compete with the Marantz in sound quality
Bought a used but in perfect shape Thorens 320, because I wanted to compare the different suspension system to the 166. Love it! Can compete with Marantz in sound quality, and even beat it in terms of consistency of speed and wow and flutter

From the very beginning, sometime around 1976:

1976 ish - bought a Technics SL-20 at Simpsons. Has a Shure something on it for many years. (This was one of my biggest purchases when I was around 15 yrs old using my PT job money).

    1984 ish - Rega P3 - don't remember where the SL-20 went. Also bought a Stanton 881S with the RP3.

1990 or so - Oracle Delphi Mk1 with an SME309. Tried it with the Stanton cart and eventually added a Sumiko Pearwood cart.

2012 - Added a Rega RP6 to my LR system. Modded basically everything to the point where there was very little of the original RP6 left to it. Put a DV 17D3 on it.

2015 - Upgraded the Oracle Delphi Mk1 to full Mk6 spec. Also around then added a Koetsu Urushi Vermillion cartridge and an SME V arm. What an awesome table!

2019 - Upgraded the LR system to a Clearaudio Innovation / TT-3 arm. Also had the Sumiko Celebration cart rebuilt by Soundsmith and it now runs on the Innovation.
