The one and only time I was 100% happy at my job was two months ago when I had a couple of hours to go before retiring. I stopped doing work and went around to everyone to shake hands and wish them well.

My answer to that question is “never”. That’s why it’s called “a job”.

When they finally got on with their Solo careers and got to make the albums they wanted to, the way they wanted to, with who they wanted too.

1964 when they played Ed Sullivan and held the top five on the US singles chart I'd say. By the end of 1964 and throughout 1965 they were exhausted, then 1966 was the whole bigger than jesus fury, then 1967 the inter group rivalry really began to cause friction.

Stuart was the person who John truly looked up to, admired and trusted. His relationship with Paul never really replaced it, he described them once as soldiers in the same trench with their lives in each others hands. That sounds about right.

Sure they had things in common, all the Beatles shared similar traits to John as to a large degree the band was made in his image but in terms of temperament, worldview and work ethic they were totally different. It's amazing it lasted as long as it did really.

I always found Stuart's absence in the otherwise great Nowhere Boy film bizarre.

Well...you should check out ' BackBeat' if you haven't already.
It's pretty much all about Stu and Astrid with The Beatles as a secondary plot line.

If you do watch it you may come away thinking Astrid was the Fifth Beatle.

I never bought into the Fifth Beatle thing.
Sure, Pete Best was a Beatle as was Stu Sutcliffe. And there were so-called contenders for the title including ,as you mentioned ,George Martin-- others included Neil , Mal, Yoko ,Murray The K, the Maharishi, Magic Alex and God knows how any others.
But there was only really John , Paul George and Ringo. The Fab Four.

Wrong..John went in and told Beatles he wanted a divorce as Beatles would interfere with his and yoko’s projects, George and ringo each left for awhile but returned.

I see yet they’re still getting those Beatles royalties..though I think modern technology reduces them, streaming rates far less than radio AirPlay, etc.

I'd imagine their currently on-going royalties are humongous. I mean "last" as in, most recent.

Lennon complained about everything and was paranoid in the seventies but he looked mighty happy in those sessions.

Yep…you definitely might…Lennon enjoyed those mass events where folks participated and spontaneously did things.

Joann George didn’t want to tour afterwards but touring kept their playing sharp and bonded them.

Lol..well the pot made them giddy but the other drugs which Dylan didn’t introduce them to had isolating effects.
