Stewart Copeland On ‘The Police: Around The World’ Documentary, Now Re-Released Decades Later (forbes.com)
good article. i travelled a lot in the 80's, but never made it to egypt. got to see ruins in algeria though, and also old city in damascus syria. will be interesting to see the extra footage. later -1
heres another interview over at SDE: Stewart Copeland on The Police’s restored tour film and their reissue plans – SuperDeluxeEdition later -1
Same with me. More bummed to learn that US is getting the silver vinyl. Wanted the blue personally as it was what was advertised when I preordered it way back when. I’ll enjoy it either way.
I always thought Sting was the one being stingy with the reissues and super deluxe sets. The interview with Stewart shows he was too as he was focused on more current projects for him. Let’s hope we get these vault items sooner than later.
I had always understood that the Police had very little in the way of outtakes. Judging from the latest Stewart Copeland interview, we may be to hear some demo recordings. Personally, I'd like the SuperDeluxe Editions to follow this format: CD1: Original album, remastered CD2: Rehearsals, demos, alternate takes and outtakes CD3 - CD4: Complete concert (for the first few albums, they could probably give us two complete concerts, with each fitting on a single CD) Blu-Ray 1: Original album and b-sides in hi res stereo and surround Blu-Ray 2: Promo videos, concert video
I can verify now that seeing it as it is cut from the film. Too bad. Always loved the part of Sting spitting on someone in the crowd and swearing at them in the mic.
In August 2021, The Police guitarist Andy Summers unexpectedly revealed to SDE that the trio were finally looking at letting their unreleased music see the light of day. There was, Andy explained, a “10-year plan” for The Police’s back catalogue to be overhauled and reissued. Interesting, to say the least. Also interesting is where the inspiration for this "plan" came from. Money talks,...
I received mine yesterday morning. I'm about to play the CD. I'll play the Blu-Ray at my parent's home for the TV and system combination ... I want to be shocked at first sight. Unfortunately I never had the VHS, only saw extract from Youtube. I like so much the spirit, the light of the 16mm, 80's, Japan, the Walking on The Moon presentation ... Now I want Ghost in The Machine tour.
I'm a little surprised there aren't more songs on the cd, given it has been compiled from multiple shows. Were the those the only complete usable tracks?
Maybe part of the ten-year plan is for us to have to wait the first nine years before anything comes out.
Mine's supposed to arrive today. I'm looking forward to curling up and watching it on this rainy Saturday.
Just FYI- the film is also available on demand (iTunes, Amazon Prime), but the run time is 65 minutes, so presumably it doesn’t have any of the extras.
Andy is 80 a 10 year plan seems very logical, a 15-20 year plan might even be more wise. ^folks that's sarcasm...
Jimmy Page also has a ten year plan. What is going on?I’ll be dead by then.Just let me hear the music like the Metallica box sets for crying out loud!LOL!
Page is 78 halfway to 79. He must think the tons of junk he injected into himself and copious amounts alcohol he consumed for multiple decades is the recipe for a longer than average lifespan. The time for artists of that era to create 10 year plans was in the late 1990's-mid 00's certainly not as we approach the mid 2020's.
