Hey, I'm getting anxious waiting for that next album to evaluate!;)
If anyone else is also, I would appreciate any information regarding the best available version of REM's Murmur album.

Thanks for any info and I would be happy to post one of these requests on a daily basis if anyone else could stand it.

    jligon,

For cd, get the MFSL as it stands alone. For vinyl, I have no idea.

    Hope that helps a bit.:D

The first gold disc I ever bought. I bought it after reading a press release on MFSL's website that mentioned it. Supposedly when they heard the tape, the reaction was, "Whoa, where did this bass come from?" The kick drum and the bass was much more apparent than on previous editions, and the speculation was that the album was heavily compressed when first released to accomodate college radio, which was the band's primary audience. I don't have the original vinyl to back-up this story, but regardless, the MFSL disc crushes every CD release out there.

On "Murmur", REM's 1st full lengther, I have a mint original IRS pressing that still sounds fairly fabulous....

...But the MFSL on vinyl still will squash it like a grape (I don't have the CD)...
