Very, very sadly low-profile from about 1969 till his death. I doubt that almost anyone would be able to recognize him by 1972 or so. The first pic below is from 1967... the last one from 1975: David Gilmour kindly and loyally made it a point to make sure he received the royalties he was due.
According to the net, Steve Lukather is worth 90 million dollars, but in UK, the highest profile thing he did was singing the verses in Toto's Rosanna video (a UK #12 in 1982) while wearing shades.
Whoa! This one wins the thread. How glaringly obvious as a top choice!!! I’m mad at myself now for not thinking of Syd right off the bat :/
PSA. Mason owns one of only 39 of these bad boys ever made, bought many years ago for 37,000 pounds. He has recently turned down offers of 30 million. Another one sold for 53 mil
Didn't Nick pony up the dough for his half of financing the Momentary Lapse Of Reason project by selling one of his hot rods?
He put the Ferrari in the photo up for collateral to bankroll the tour, but fortunately for him the 200 shows made pots of money. Shocker.
I'm not proposing them for this threads accolade, but I wonder how much Clive Maldoon and Dave Curtiss made from Madonna's Ray of Light. For those who don't know it was based around their song Sepheryn.
No way is Russ Ballard a household name here. My partner, who loves at least one song he wrote, has never heard of him (and didn't know the song wasn't written by the band, and what's more, couldn't care less!), and I can guarantee that if I asked twenty of my friends who he is, maybe, just maybe, my two music nerd friends might know!
Yeah, he’s booked to play the 350 capacity 100 Club in April (very doubtful to go ahead would think) so not very well known I’d say.
Over the last quarter century no one has had it better than Steve Perry. He's produced very little new music, turns up rarely, but gets a full cut of Journey's revenue. Not a bad way to make a living.
Old enough to have taped Rainbow's "Since You Been Gone" off the radio when it was in the charts in 1979...
I always thought that the Sons of Champlin were the superior band, even way back when they were 'competitors.' I still play Loosen Up Naturally especially.
